Bad experience

Purchased new Flexsteel reclining sofa yesterday. It was delivered today with no owners manual. I followed directions on Flexsteel's web sight to request owner's manual. Phone call went to "corporate office". I was told by a lady they do not take customer phone calls and to contact my dealer. Du, why did web sight direct my call there? It was not a pleasant experience. She was not customer friendly.

This is the second flexsteel couch we have purchased, both bad choices. The first was a sofa sleeper and the fabric split open on the cushions within six months of use and we got no help from the store and no response from flexsteel.

As that was many years ago we tried them again purchasing a sectional about 2 years ago...one day I sat down in the outer corner seat and I heard wood splintering. When we turned it over we saw it was constructed of 3/4” plywood except that where the back leg was...part of the plywood there was missing reducing the thickness to 1/2”. There were no pieces on the floor, it was put together that way, with a damaged piece of wood and that’s where it broke. Considering the small sectional was near $3,000 I wholeheartedly expected it to last until I was tired of it and certainly thought that it would last more than two years.

I will never buy from Flexsteel again. The pictures show both the broken area and the other end of the wood piece.

Terrible Customer Service And Product

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We purchased a brand new living room set in January 2017. It was delivered a month later but one of the delivery drivers noticed a flaw on the rocker/recliner. I was told that he would let the store know what he found and they would call me by the following week. Three months passed and I received no calls but I started to call once a week after the third week. And we noticed during the three months that our furniture was very flimsy. I called Flexsteel to tell them of my dissatisfaction but they kept referring me to my store I purchased my furniture from. But they quit answering my calls. Finally I got the owner of the store to come out and we agreed to have them come pick up our furniture to fix the flawed part, the rocker was making a ton of ticking noises and the arms on all of the furniture were flimsy. From May 2017 they promised to return our furniture and to replace all the old pieces from Flexsteel. I was doubtful, but August finally comes around and they delivered our furniture. When they left I went straight to my recliner to where I tried to fix the clicking noises and guess what? The markings where I tried to fix the noise was still there. They lied and never replaced my pieces. I actually recognized each piece where I marked them where I tried to fix the arms on the love seat and sofa. I put a report in on Google, Facebook-which they disabled after I wrote the bad review but I also wrote to the Better Business Bureau.

2 recliners purchased in December 2017 went out in less than 3 months

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
We purchased 2 power recliners from Nebraska Furniture Mart in the Colony Texas in December of 2017. On March 6th the first motor went out and the recliner would not recline. Service person didnt come out until the 20th without parts and had to be ordered. It is not April 5th and the parts have not been received. The motor on the second recliner went out two weeks later. Still not parts. Nebraska could care less. They blame Flexsteel parts on back order. Stay away from Nebraska Furniture Mart and Flexsteel. I attempted to contact Flexsteel and was told they do not take calls directly from consumers and we have to go to the retail store that we purchased the product.

It’s interesting. No comment from Flexsteel.

We bought a Flexsteel double power touch pad recliner about 5 years ago. During first year while in warranty the left side recliner would get stuck in recline position.

I had to climb out of it. Had repairman that the furniture store where purchased come out. He first ordered a replacement for the touch pad. Once it came in he replaced it.

It still was stuck in recline position. He then ordered a new motor which took another week. New motor worked for a little while but now it gets stuck most of the time if I put it in recline position. I have to unplug the whole unit and wait about 30 minutes.

Plug back in and sometimes it will start working and sometimes I have to leave it unplugged overnight. Now the right side chair is starting to do the same thing. That is my husband's side so he is really getting upset about it.

We will not ever be buying a Flexsteel sofa or recliner again. So disappointing!

Guest

Our flexsteel recliners also stopped working a few months after we bought them. The motors are fine but there is a threaded rod that moves a plastic piece.

The plastic piece stripped out.

Poor design. Have been getting the run around for months.

I bought an expensive Flexsteel sofa and the coushins are flat. It’s been 5 months and Flexsteel has failed to honor its warranty. Don’t bother with the BBB because it’s run by a bunch of idiots!!!

No Help

Flexsteel Industries - No Help
I was informed by Lisa Bauer, Customer Service, that Flexsteel provided no replacement for worn out seatcovers. She advised me I bought a motorhome with less quality covers instead of a more durable cover. I was not informed of this at the time of purchase. There are apparently different grades of "ultraleather" which I wasnt made aware of until my seats became worn and unsightly. I have contacted BBB for support stating my issue was not being informed of the lesser quality of covers at the time of purchase. Warranty is not the issue.

Thank you. I was going to buy a new Flexsteel couch because I have one that is 22 years old and was really built to last.

Good to know they are using subprime leather now. I will look else where.

I have a flex steel couch and the seams on the cushions have come split. After spending 5k on a sofa and loveseat one would think they would stand by their product.

Made in CHINA

We bought a power leather recliner sofa and love seat 4 years ago, we were told by the sales person it was "TOP OF THE LINE" I noticed a few months back that the side of the cushions were splitting and pealing. I did some research on the net and discovered that some Flexsteel products are made in CHINA.

I looked at the tags and sure enough this crap is made in CHINA. I went back and complained at the store where we bought it and they said we were past the one year warranty!!!

Never again!!! We've had other sofas from Berkline and they lasted close to 20 years and we had dogs and kids!!!

I found out the same thing about their JUNK recliners at a HUGE $$$$!! NEVER AGAIN will I buy Flexsteel.

Guest

I have same problem with cracking, but also leather is wearing off. Only 4 years old.

I have a flex steel recliner for over 14 years and still in perfect condition. My sofa was probably made in China too.

Contacted Flex Steel and they told me leather fading is normal; can be caused by hair products, lotions or even medications! What a bunch of crap!

Guest

Was considering latitudes collection until i read "made in China" and all the bad reviews. Trying to find a high quality recling leather sofa made in America...hard to do.

try Bradington Young!

I thought Flexsteel has a limited lifetime warranty against defects. Are they claiming it was "normal wear and tear"?I bought a sectional a few years ago. How can I tell where it was made?

Guest

Same .. we bought the latitudes power 3 piece set and it is falling apart after 2.5 years ....

power is broke at couch end with splinters falling out before that , cushioning flat , cannot hardly get out of recliner.... generic china junk...wish we could be compensated, we bought this thinking it would be our last set

Guest

Its funny how all of these reviews about Flexsteel are Bad reviews.. Flexsteel is the BEST motion line available anywhere..

Sure there are some bad ones out there, when you sell over $250 million a year in product there's going to be a few problems.. If the store that you purchased it from won't help you out then its their fault, and yours for purchasing from them.

You don't see the billions of happy customers writing reviews.. only the .01% that had a problem that they couldn't get fixed.

Well I will add to this then. I had several flex steel pieces.

All leather and the leather peeled after 4 months on the recliner and love seat. Got a second set... Did the same. Questioned the owner as to why this was occurring.

All he could say was very cheap leather. Don't get me wrong...

It is the most comfortable furniture I have ever owned... But why cut the corners.

I am so tired of this China JUNK that flexsteel makes! Go to Lazyboy or Best, MADE IN USA!

Guest

I bought Flexsteel as well and I can tell you the made in China sofas are pure CRAP. Leather color came off in less than 2 years and at 4 years cracked and split wide open on leather creases in back and seat.

Of course the vinyl sides peeled after a little over a year. Its pure junk. and to try to defend their inferior products is a total joke. As far as limited lifetime warranty..

LOL may be true if its REAL American flexsteel but 1 year on the made in China CRAP. Not sure if I mentioned it but the Flexsteel products made in China is CRAP. be sure to check on the country its made in.. I have also heard they are having sofas made in Mexico too..

not sure how that product is, but China makes CRAP and don't kid yourself thinking they don't. Maybe they will start making cars so that Renault/Fiat will have at least one car maker worse than them. One last thought on the sofa.

Why would they make the leather so thin? I can understand using food coloring instead of dye.I don't understand 1/32" leather.

UNCOMFORTABLE!!!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Bought a new sofa, loveseat and chair. They are all electric reclining with leather. I can't sit on this furniture for a half an hour before I am so sore I'm forced to get up. I never had neck or back pain until I got this furniture. If I sit for too long, I am sore for days. I have had no problems otherwise but this is a major concern after spending so much money.

Worn out mechanism and cushions in just over year

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Very disappointed the recliner internal bushings are worn out and new parts ordered and cushion have collapsed both occured within 14 months of use. Thankfully the store I purchased from is replacing the internal mechanism and bushings. Would never purchase Flex Steel products again. Furniture store has had many recliner failures. Why are you asking for 100 words this is stupid. Are we writing a novel? {{Redacted}}
